Sean Decatur

American Museum of Natural History

Award-winning scientist and educator Sean Decatur is president of the American Museum of Natural History, one of the nation’s leading educational and cultural institutions, and former president of Kenyon College, where he achieved significant progress in student body diversity and strength, faculty distinction, capital enhancements, and record enrollment despite the COVID pandemic. He has served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Oberlin College, professor at Mount Holyoke College, and a visiting scientist at MIT. He is a  Fellow of the AAAS and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He earned his B.S. from Swarthmore College and his Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry from Stanford University.
