Described by Billboard magazine as the “Guru of live event greening”, Michael Martin is Founder & CEO of Effect Partners and r.World, two purpose-driven organizations committed to creating global awareness of and meaningful change in environmental sustainability.
Since 1990, he has introduced and led sustainability in the music industry, producing the first-ever National Earth Day concerts that would relaunch the annual Earth Day campaign (the world’s largest secular event). He created many first-ever music industry environmental initiatives, including EnviroRider™ and the EnviroTour™ and has been sustainability advisor to artists like U2, Rolling Stones, and Jack Johnson. He also advises Fortune 500 companies including Apple, Toyota, and Target.
In 2017, Michael brought together his 34+ years of experience to launch the reusable r.Cup and r.Ware system, which is now part of r.World - the nation’s #1 reuse platform. r.World launched with U2’s 2017 Joshua Tree Tour, and continues to lead the reuse movement in North America, with support from many more artists, venues, concessionaires, the White House, NGOs, industry giants AEG, ASM, NIVA, and others.
