Abdulrahman Almawwas

Abdulrahman Almawwas is a mechanical engineer from Aleppo University and co-founder of the White Helmets, a volunteer Syrian rescue group. Almawwas has represented the organization at numerous international events, including meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and the plenary session at the European Parliament. He serves as the archiving and documenting manager for the White Helmets, specializing in justice and accountability. The White Helmets were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2016, and a documentary on the group’s work, titled “White Helmets,” won an Oscar in 2017. He’s fluent in both Arabic and English.
