Kimberly Zieselman
Kimberly Zieselman, JD (she/her) is an intersex woman, lawyer and human rights advocate with more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, currently Senior Advisor for Intersex Global Rights at OutRight International. Previously, she served as Senior Advisor to the Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons at the U.S. State Department. Kimberly also served over eight years as Executive Director of interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth, the premier US intersex policy organization, and four years on the board of directors for InterConnect, the largest intersex support group in the United States. A leader in the field of intersex rights, Kimberly participated as the sole American intersex participant in the 2015 Expert Intersex Convening by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and is an official signatory to the historic Yogyakarta Principles +10.
In 2020, Kimberly published XOXY, an award-winning memoir about her personal and professional intersex journey, and recently executive produced an award-winning short narrative film, Common As Red Hair, currently screening at festivals. She regularly consults on intersex representation on screen, and has been published and quoted in numerous outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, BBC, Washington Blade, CNN, and The Advocate. Kimberly resides in Vermont with her husband and two college-aged daughters.
