Peter Barrett

Peter Barrett is a General Partner and Co-Founder at Playground Global, an early-stage venture firm that backs technical founders in solving the world’s hardest problems. He serves on the boards of companies advancing computation, AI, and energy transition, including PsiQuantum, which is building the world’s first useful quantum computer. He also led the Series A for MosaicML, later acquired by Databricks.

Throughout his career, Peter has pushed the boundaries of computing. He founded Rocket Science Games, created the first widely used video codec in the early ‘90s, helped develop one of the world’s most popular IPTV platforms at Microsoft, and led advancements in cloud intelligence for automotive applications at CloudCar. Holding over 100 patents, he is drawn to solving the toughest technical challenges at the intersection of deep tech and hard science.
