Oliver Kadel is a multi-award-winning 3D sound designer, recording and mixing engineer based in London, UK. Since 2014 he’s worked on over 200 projects delivering spatial and interactive audio for new-generation immersive media including VR, MR, AR and 360, covering a broad range of sectors from virtual training and branded content to films, gaming, and location-based installations.

In early 2018, Oliver and his team launched the Immersive Audio Podcast which hosts industry experts and influential guests discussing all areas of immersive audio and the XR industry. The podcast has been highly commended as a valuable source of information for industry professionals and students, representing numerous segments of the industry and continuing to grow its audience globally.

Oliver has always been closely linked to academia, since January 2019 worked as a part-time lecturer at the University of West London, delivering content on Immersive Audio for the MA in Advanced Music Technology course. In January 2022 he joined as a part-time lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, teaching Audio for Extended Reality Media. Currently, Oliver is undertaking his 3rd year of PhD program at the AudioLab, University of York, doing research in Spatial Psychoacoustics focusing on assessing the impact of spatial and interactive audio on cognitive load and information retention for industrial training simulation in Virtual Reality. Oliver has co-written and published peer-reviewed papers and articles for the Audio Engineering Society and SAGE Publications on topics related to Spatial and Interactive Audio for XR media.
