Delbert Whetter
Deaf producer and film executive Delbert is an entertainment industry leader in disability inclusion. He serves as Vice Chair on the board of RespectAbility, a non-profit organization that works with Hollywood to promote authentic, diverse, and inclusive portrayals of persons with disabilities, and on the Disability Advisory Board of SFFILM. He is frequently engaged to consult, speak, and conduct trainings at numerous entertainment studios, companies and organizations including Hollywood, Health & Society, Walt Disney Studios and its affiliated film/television entities, NBC, DreamWorks Animation, Netflix, Amazon Studios and MGM.
Delbert possesses over two decades of experience as a senior film executive and film producer including work on three animated features, IGOR, The Hero of Color City, and Bunyan & Babe, with Venice, CA based Exodus Film Group, an indie film production studio that he co-founded. He is currently producing the upcoming animated feature film, Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk, starring the voices of will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Howie Mandel and Whoopi Goldberg.
In addition to producing animated features, Delbert is also producing the live-action narrative feature film, Flash Before the Bang, based on a true story about an all-deaf high-school track & field championship team, and Live at the Deaf Club: The Story of Punk at the San Francisco Deaf Club, a documentary about the legendary 1970’s punk rock venue that took place at a deaf social club. He recently executive produced Being Michelle, an award-winning documentary about a deaf woman with autism who survived incarceration and abuse.
Delbert earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., and his MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.
