Emily is a staff writer at WIRED, where she covers gene editing, neurotechnology, reproductive medicine, and synthetic biology. She is interested in the ways in which humans are reprogramming our bodies and reshaping the environment—and the consequences of doing so.
Her work has been recognized by the D.C. Science Writers Association and National Institute for Healthcare Management. She is also the recipient of an MIT Knight Science Journalism Project Fellowship, which allowed her to research the science, history, and ethics of cross-species transplantation. Before joining WIRED, she held staff positions at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Medium, and MIT Technology Review.
