Chris Lewis is President & CEO of Public Knowledge where he is a leading voice for digital rights on behalf of the public interest. He’s served as President & CEO since July 2019 after seven years as PK’s Vice President for Government Affairs. Chris has over 20 years of experience as an advocate, elected official, political organizer, and policy leader. His prior political and policy work includes serving as Deputy Director of the office of Legislative Affairs at the Federal Communications Commission, as a former U.S. Senate staffer and as an experienced political organizer in both the nonprofit world and political campaigns from the local to presidential level. Chris graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelors degree in Government. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia where he is active in local civic issues, including being elected to the Alexandria City School Board from 2013-2019. Chris was listed as one of the “500 most influential people shaping policy” in Washingtonian Magazine in 2022 through 2024.
