Cancer Innovation and Those Who are Left Behind

In this groundbreaking era of cancer innovation, advancements have contributed to a 33% decrease in cancer mortality rates and have prevented ~3.8 million deaths since 1991. Despite this, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the U.S., and far too many people from historically underserved communities are without the care they need to survive. Through the first-of-its-kind Cancer Patients Bill of Rights resolution, California is blazing a path forward for cancer patients by tackling systemic barriers and providing a blueprint for similar policies nationally.
