The Internet of Wild Things: Mapping Biodiversity With Sound
We are experiencing the sixth mass extinction; however, we don’t have enough information to build an accurate understanding of the scope of biodiversity loss and prioritize measures to counteract it. This information is necessary to achieve the SDG and GBF (COP15) targets by 2030. Collecting and analyzing acoustics—sound—is critical to developing a global and local understanding of biodiversity and ecosystem health. Sound enables us to track and inform action for protecting and restoring the earth’s ecosystems.
