How Birth Storytelling Can Solve the Maternal Health Crisis
Birth and becoming a parent in America is broken. The US has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world and 45% of people describe birth as traumatic. Television, film, books, and social media finally more accurately reflect the harsh reality of entering parenthood in America, in part because more women are creating these stories inspired by their lived experience. An author, a journalist, a doctor/midwife, and a birth tech founder discuss how birth storytelling in all its forms holds up a mirror, and can help solve a national crisis.
