When it comes to TV entertainment, death is overwhelmingly delivered in breathtaking fashion—shootings, stabbings, suffocations, you name it. Yet, this picture bears little resemblance to the real-world nature of death. This lively panel discussion will focus on the latest research around representation of death and dying in TV entertainment and feature Hollywood showrunners, executive producers, and end of life care professionals who will break down the taboos of death and dying, the challenges of accurately portraying the end of life on TV and what’s at stake if we don’t flip the script.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
