Although wildfires are an important part of ecological balance, extreme wildfires claim hundreds of thousands of lives and cost billions of dollars in damages each year. The threat these extreme fires pose to our health, economy and safety is only growing due to climate change.

This panel will discuss the need for emerging technology that more effectively detects and combats wildfires to address this global crisis and allow people and fire to sustainably coexist.
