Evolving Cyber Threats: The Role of Abandoned Technology

New internet-enabled technologies are growing at an increasing rate. Unfortunately, the manufacturers who build these systems are incentivized to stop supporting them and build the next new innovation. From ensuring clean water into our homes to caring for hospital patients, the lack of supported, otherwise known as “end of life” technology jeopardizes society’s safety and security. This talk explains the factors that perpetuate the digital afterlife, the impact of its continued existence, and the steps companies and consumers can take to bring our systems back to life.
