This presentation will look at innovation in space travel and our prospects of living off-Earth, making predictions for 2050. SpaceX, Blue Origins, and other companies will launch supplies cheaply into Earth orbit and give anyone a joy ride into space. New materials will lead to space elevators and transform the economics of space travel. Permanent bases on the Moon and Mars are coming and medical advances may let us reach for the stars. The space arena has few applicable laws and almost no regulation. We need to ensure that space exploration is done ethically, equitably, and sustainably.
