Designing and Demonstrating Advanced Nuclear Reactors
In a few years, engineers will demonstrate the world’s first modern nuclear microreactor and first molten salt reactor experiment to achieve criticality at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory. Advanced reactors represent a paradigm shift in how electricity is generated and delivered. They offer the near limitless ability to produce clean electricity to run neighborhoods, industrial factories, military bases, and other energy dense applications. Getting to this point hasn’t been without challenges, but an energy breakthrough is on the horizon.
