Nimz at 800 Congress

Date TBA

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nima Cheraghi was raised by his Iranian immigrant parents who encouraged him to lean into his musical interests as a young child. He began playing guitar and writing music at ten years old.

Nimz grew his songwriting and performance skills playing in metal bands. At 15, he began to learn production to produce his own demos. It was through his close friends in the Milwaukee metal scene where they coined the nickname, Nimz.

He continued writing music in university, where he discovered hip-hop and began producing with local hip hop artists in Wisconsin. Nimz dedicated these years to refining his production skills, and expanded his genre palette, writing rap and pop music.

During a night out with friends, Nimz, after years of going to concert as an adolescent, experienced severe acute hearing loss, losing over 60% of his hearing. He questioned if he could ever make music again, frustrated that he could no longer hear the frequencies he remembered so clearly.

Everything changed when he discovered LA’s underground dance scene. Nimz fell in love with music all over again, diving into house, UKG, drum and bass, and bass music.
