The Oxys
"The sound is wonderful — snotty and sleazy in all of the most delicious ways. Again, rock ‘n’ roll doesn’t need saving, but the Oxys are going to do it anyway." - Brett Callwood, LA Weekly
Texas punk rock n' rollers, The Oxys, formed in Austin, Texas during the height of the pandemic in 2020 by lead guitarist Jason “Ginchy” Kottwitz (Dead Boys, Sylvain Sylvain and The Sylvains) and vocalist “PunkRockPhil” Davis. The two share a potent songwriting chemistry along with a mutual love of late 1970s gutter rock, snot punk and a penchant for power pop, which is glaringly evident in their first two records released just 8 months apart via Dead Beat Records, "A Date with the Oxys," and "Generation Irrelevant."
Compared to the likes of The Damned, New York Dolls, Cheap Trick, The Weirdos, Alice Cooper, Johnny Thunders' The Heartbreakers, and the early work of The Replacements, The Oxys developed a reputation for "well-crafted songs with just the right amount of dirt with a punk edge," so says Ames Flames of US Rocker.
Fresh off their 13-date tour in Spain, The Oxys resume production on their third album and gear up for forthcoming US dates throughout 2024.
