Dasom Baek
Dasom Baek is a composer, improviser, lecturer, collaborator and performer of traditional Korean instruments, including Daegeum, Sogeum. Dasom pursues ground-breaking and modern music rooted in traditional Korean instrumental performance.
She is a Certified Master of Important Intangible Cultural Asset, no.45. She has achieved Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the Korea National University of Arts, and is currently undertaking a PhD course at Seoul National University.
She was selected to play at the 2020 APaMM showcase, Jazzkorea Festival in Germany. Also she released her debut album, titled <무(無): Nothingness>. In 2021 she was selected as a showcase artist at SXSW Festival and had a solo concert at the National Gugak Center in Seoul. She was selected to play at the 2021 APaMM showcase, 2021 Journey to Korean Music. In 2022 She played New Music Festival in Rotterdam, Rewire Festival in Hague, BRDCST in Brussels, Freespace Jazz Festival in Hong Kong. In 2023, she played in Freespace Jazz Festival in Hong Kong, Creative Seoungsu Festival in Seoul, K-music Festival in London. Recently, she released her 2nd album, titled <거울도시 : Mirror City> by Metron Records (UK).
