Krystal Scordo
Krystal Scordo likes to talk trash—space trash. She’s the director of Brand and Communication at Astroscale U.S., a leader is space sustainability. Through strategic communication, events, and impactful media relations she is creating awareness of issues like orbital debris and challenging the space industry to adopt more responsible behaviors in space. She connects awareness of these issues to Astroscale’s services to make space more sustainable for future generations.
Krystal launched her career with Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems, where she built the company’s first communication and events team. Before joining Astroscale in 2021, she worked at Ball Aerospace as the manager of Employee Communications and Events. She has expertise in branding, public relations and crisis communication.
Krystal earned her BA in Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder and is the first in her family to graduate college. As co-chair of the Sector Partnership, a consortium of the Colorado space community, she leads a creative team working to increase awareness of the value and the jobs/opportunities in the space industry and is passionate about breaking barriers to entry for non-traditional STEM backgrounds. In Jan. 2023 she began a two-year term as board member and director of the Colorado chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
After touching down in Los Angeles, Colorado Springs, Boulder and New York City, Krystal now lives in Denver with her family. Whenever she can, she loves to get back to Boulder to watch Ralphie run.
