Makalynn Powell

Makalynn Powell is a mental health advocate, specifically as it relates to substance use disorder and recovery. From Morgantown, West Virginia, she plays an active in local efforts to reduce the stigmas associated to substance use disorders and mental health. Featured in the film Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness, Makalynn has many experiences in her own journey that she shares to throughout the film as well as speaking engagements to help others navigating their own struggles. Using her voice to advocate and make change in her community, Makalynn regularly seeks out opportunities to share her story to help pave the way for change to support others experiencing the mental health challenges.
