STEPHANIE K SMITH got her start in television in 2007, when her branded, mixed-media series IRIS EXPANDING (originally developed as a digital property for Cosmopolitan), sold to The CW, who produced it as a pilot presentation in 2008. She’s had a show in some stage of development 14 of the 16 years since, with partners including HeyDay Television, Cavalry Media, Avalon Entertainment, NBC Universal, FTVS, CBS Studios and Legendary Television. Additional credits include two seasons on CARNIVAL ROW (during which she penned the ancillary novel TANGLE IN THE DARK, which spent a month as number one site-wide on Audible) and the Emmy-nominated Limited Series GENIUS, as well as Starz's upcoming John Wick spin-off THE CONTINENTAL.

Currently at work on an adult animated adaptation of Webtoon’s flagship comic LORE OLYMPUS (network TBA), on which she is serving as Show Runner, she’s also developing an original, female led series inspired by the classic Middle Eastern story collection ARABIAN NIGHTS for Legendary Television with director Tarsem Singh and producers Startling Inc., as well as a series adaptation of her Audible Original WRECKED with Zoic Studios.

Feature work includes THE IMPOSSIBLE KNIFE OF MEMORY based on National book Award Finalist Laurie Halse Anderson’s book of the same name, THE WAY I USED TO BE based on the NYT Best-Seller by Amber Smith, and a remake of Disney’s FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR – her first ever job in the business, landed before she finished grad school, while in a spin class at Crunch Fitness. In addition, her original script PROMISES was produced as the low budget indie SEX AND THE USA, which opened the 2008 Deauville Film Festival.

Stephanie holds degrees from both NYU and USC, is a member of the Committee of Women Writers and Middle Eastern Writers Committees of the WGA. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Ian, son Dashiell and their Bichon Frisé, Frances.
