Brian Michael Smith
Brian Michael Smith is an actor and advocate best known for breaking ground in
Transmasculine representation in Television.
After appearances on Chicago P.D. and Homeland, Smith ushered in a trifecta
of Trans male characters beginning with Toine Wilkins in OWN’s Queen Sugar, followed
by Pierce Williams in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q and most notably as
firefighter Paul Strickland in Fox’s 9-1-1 Lone Star in which he became the first Out
Black Transman cast in a series regular role on Network TV.
Smith continues to use his visibility and platforms to advocate for better representation
of Trans people in TV & Film and equality for all.
