David Messier
David Messier is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, artist and owner of Same Sky Productions, Inc., a 3,000 sq ft recording studio in Austin, TX.
David has held leadership positions in the Recording Academy (GRAMMYS) as a Governor and President of the Texas Chapter and as a national Trustee. Messier has contributed his talents as a leader, volunteer, sponsor, and patron of the Austin arts community, including the SIMS Foundation HAAM, and the HOPE Outdoor Gallery.
After nearly a decade of work in the industry and producing music for others, Messier started releasing solo albums in 2016 with his debut, “Waiting for Eldridge” on Fable Records to critical acclaim.
Messier has been recognized with numerous accolades for his musical accomplishments and contributions to the local industry. Austin Mayor Steve Adler declared June 8, 2017 as “David Messier Day,” and he was awarded with the prestigious “Austin Under 40 Award” in the “Arts and Entertainment” category in 2018. That same year Messier released his follow up solo album, “Time Bomb,” to national recognition and 2020 saw the release of three online specials entitled “The Ugly People Need Haircuts” and the subsequent album, “New Attitude.”
In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, Messier spearheaded the national charge to create actionable guidelines for recording studios to open and record safely. These guidelines were adopted and shared by the Recording Academy, and have been applauded by Pitchfork and Billboard Magazine.
Messier is also one third the act MR LINEN, which released its debut album on July 2, 2021. The closing track of the album, “I Got You” was featured as KUTX Song of the Day on July 2,2021 and was later included on BMI’s Texas Ten playlist for the month of August.
