Ginger Chien
Creatrix at the intersection of intellect and emotion, words and music, and fact and imagination, with communications at the heart of everything I do.
I integrate a wide range of intersectional identities: I am an Asian child of immigrants in an era marked by idealism and profound inequity. I am a transgender woman with intensely contrasting experiences of privilege and marginalization. I am an advocate for and teacher of diversity and emotional intelligence and the collaborative creativity it fuels. I am a storyteller who has shared tales of life, love and being around the world. I am a devotee of the classical fusion of style and engineering as embodied in typewriters. I am also a prolific inventor, with over 70 sole and shared patents in areas of business processes, communications, computing, and user interfaces. And finally, I am a musician in an queer 80s cover band, who has seen the power of shared experiences and authenticity open hearts in the most unexpected places. I integrate all of those identities into human-centered ethical engineering and inspirational Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging workshops and lectures where I bridge differences by emphasizing empathy, universal human values, and the safety to be vulnerable.
