Sumit Sagar Lal

Sumit is from Sacramento, California, where he works as a software engineer for Slack. He has over seven years of experience as an engineer with a focus on writing maintainable front-end code to delight users, clients, and fellow developers alike. Sumit learned how to code at San Quentin State Prison when he joined The Last Mile program. He completed all the learning tracks and went on to work in the Last Mile Works, building websites for private companies. He was released from prison in June of 2019 and has since graduated from Hack Reactor's software engineering immersive program and started his role at Slack. He spends most of his time drinking coffee, running, delivering projects, teaching returned citizens how to code, mentoring the youth, and speaking in emojis. In his free time, he spends time gardening, teaching taekwondo, and cooking.
