Shanae Jones

Although Shanae Jones had been enjoying tea for well over 30 years, she recognized that there was a huge gap in the market. Many tea companies on the market today promote a white-washed version wellness that rely heavily on trendy buzzwords. From detox teas to promises of eternal youth, these teas are often created without marginalized communities in mind. Shanae couldn’t understand why her community was being left out of conversations about health, wellness and accessibility, so she decided to launch her first tea brand, Ivy’s Tea Co. in 2016 in Maryland. This spring, Shanae relaunched Ivy’s Tea Co. as Flyest. Flyest is a hip-hop inspired bespoke tea company that prioritizes herbal teas and representation for all to be reflective of today’s modern tea drinker.
