Dr. Bart is a Principal Investigator and the Director of the Subterranean Influences on Nitrogen and Carbon (SINC) Center at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (DDPSC), the world’s largest nonprofit plant research institute. Dr. Bart’s research focuses on the complicated interactions between plants, microbes and the environment and encompasses disease-causing microbes such as bacteria and viruses and the less well understood multitude of beneficial microbes that associate with plants. Her team applies computational, lab and field based methods to dissect the complicated web of interactions that occur between plants, microbes and the environment and how these interactions ultimately affect plant health and the sustainability of agriculture.
