Anthony Back, MD is a medical oncologist and palliative medicine physician at the University of Washington, where he's serving as the lead investigator for a study of psilocybin-assisted therapy for clinicians with symptoms of depression and burnout related to frontline Covid work. He learned how psychedelic drugs could help patients facing death by trying psilocybin mushrooms himself ... on the underground. He wrote a first-person account of this experience in "What Psilocybin Taught Me About Dying," an article published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine in 2019.
