Bret Kugelmass

Founder & CEO
Last Energy

Bret Kugelmass is the founder and CEO of Last Energy. An engineer by trade, he began his career at organizations like NASA, Panasonic and UC Berkeley College of Engineering before founding the drone technology company Airphrame.

In 2017, Bret sold the company and decided to pursue a new challenge: climate change. He launched the Energy Impact Center, a research institute focused on achieving global decarbonization through low cost, clean energy. Through 1,500+ interviews with climate and energy experts—many of them on his podcast, Titans of Nuclear—he came to understand the potential in nuclear, and the ways the industry has fallen behind. He founded Last Energy to reimagine nuclear project development to be faster, more cost-effective, and more scalable with small modular reactors.
