In this keynote, I will examine multiple artistic interventions using AR that deploy the medium as a tool of equity, social justice and reimagined monumental land art. Using my most recent Augmented Reality artwork, Stone Speaks, created in collaboration with Sophia the Robot and commissioned by Borderless Capital, I will explore the poetics of the medium itself, and how its singular properties allow for subversion, reclamation, and a shared cultural thought-space. The ecological impacts of new technologies (social, environmental, political) will also be addressed with examples of how certain AR projects imagine more equitable, interdependent futures. An emphasis on collaboration will be threaded through the entire presentation.

Please head to 900 W Riverside Dr Austin, TX 78704 to activate AR experience

Scan the above QR code to download the 4th Wall App. Select “Allow all permissions” (4th Wall does not collect user data)
Open the app. Select “Coordinates”. An arrow will direct you to the artwork and the experience will launch.
Use the camera icons at the bottom of the screen to record the experience. When prompted, allow 4th Wall to access your photos to save your recordings directly to your camera roll. When recording video, once you tap the video icon, all icons will disappear. To end recording, tap screen and the icons will reappear. All videos and photos will be stored in your photo folder.
