Humanity in the Metaverse: What’s Design Got To Do With It?

The metaverse unleashes new ways for business, society, and individuals to solve problems—including opportunities to nurture greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. How? A large part of the answer is humanity-centered design—applying proven principles to craft extended reality experiences that accommodate the nuances and complexities of being human. Effective technology-enabled solutions start with a focus on people and commitment to empathy. XR experiences are no exception—and the best will not only level the playing field but also empower people to interact with the world in new ways. This session will discuss how we can collectively overcome the challenges of building the right safety and control mechanisms, so the metaverse can be used to connect people—responsibly—for the greater good.
