Digital disruption impacted nearly every aspect of work and culture even before the world shutdown. The pandemic fueled the fire, accelerating digitalization at an unprecedented rate.

The time for change was yesterday but many companies are still stuck with slow-moving, bureaucratic organizational structures. What obstacles hold these companies back in this new era of work? Is it bureaucracy itself standing in the way of meaningful change?

This session explores the ongoing struggle between bureaucracy and adhocracy. It looks at new ways of working: how purpose, intrinsic motivation, and self-organization are displacing the stubborn, rigid structures from the past that are often still in place and leading the way for innovation.
