Yes, NASA is Looking Up
Our solar system has eight planets, five dwarf planets, and asteroids. LOTS of asteroids. Some are called Near-Earth Asteroids, or NEAs, because they circulate through the Earth’s orbital neighborhood and come within 30 million miles of our planet. To date, more than 31,000 NEAs have been identified. Thankfully, none pose an impact threat to Earth, but regardless, NASA is watching the skies and taking steps to be prepared should an asteroid on a collision course with our planet ever be discovered. Our panelists include top asteroid experts and planetary defenders working to find, track, study, and if necessary, mitigate against future asteroid impacts to Earth.
