Amid record-level highs of fatal transgender violence and an increase in anti-trans legislation, LGBTQ+ rights are being threatened, and the challenges this community faces extend into every facet of their lives, including the workplace. According to McKinsey, more than half of transgender employees are not comfortable being out at work, and two-thirds remain closeted in professional interactions outside their workplace. Companies must act now to support their transgender employees and provide a safe, accepting community. This presentation will highlight the uniqueness of the transgender employee experience through sharing of personal experiences and proposing ways that everyone in the workplace can ensure their transgender colleagues feel empowered to express their full identities.
