Putting the Brakes on Human Trafficking
Is human trafficking in your community? All signs point to yes, with modern slavery affecting every city, suburb, and rural area. Traffickers claim nearly 25 million victims globally and generate $150 billion annually. Traffickers often move victims, many from underserved communities, via transportation networks. PennDOT is one of the first transportation agencies to tackle this growing threat in partnership with other transportation agencies and partners, including Truckers Against Trafficking, Villanova University, and the FTA. Together, they are training employees who interact with people often - truckers, driver license, welcome center, and transit employees - in human trafficking awareness and reporting. These best-in-class programs can be deployed to organizations across the globe.
