Both Sides Now: Gun Safety’s Bipartisan Future
More Americans died of gun-related injuries in 2020 than any other year in record. Every day, we lose 110 Americans to guns. And firearms are now the leading cause of death for young Americans. How to address this devastating public health crisis? Rather than continue our heated and hyper-partisan debate, with gun rights activists and safety advocates accusing each other of ill will, this panel of lawmakers, physicians, and parents will propose that the only path forward is bipartisan consensus, the sort of effort we’ve already seen after the tragic shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
