The current agricultural food (agrifood) system imposes a huge environmental burden. Agriculture is one of the greatest contributors to climate change. We need to expand the capacity of our food system to support the growing global population, but decrease its impact on the planet. Public and private pressure for change is growing, driven by regulators and retailers with their eyes on net zero.
New approaches to farming and meat production have the potential to increase accessibility while reducing the footprint of food. How will today’s financial and geopolitical headwinds impact agrifood innovation? What will it take to drive cost parity with traditional ag? And, equally important, will consumers embrace food with a very different set of roots?
