Recording: Featured Session: Raising the Bar: Public-Private Partnerships, Unlocking Career Success , Date TBA

Join US Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona, as he moderates a conversation about the strength of public-private partnerships as foundational to developing and implementing career pathways programs, with a focus on diversifying the workforce.

Ensuring that all students can engage with and explore various career opportunities before joining the workforce, is a key priority for the US Department of Education. These foundational opportunities for youth are a key piece of us being globally competitive as well as critical to diversifying our nation’s workforce across a variety of industries, teaching, film, medical sciences, engineering, among a few. Pathways to careers are also an integral part of our country’s efforts to promote rigor, relevance, and relationships in education -- establishing more flexible pathways to future success for students and create learning experiences that align our public schools and higher education institutions with the demands of the 21st century economy.

This session will highlight Roybal Film & Television Magnet high school, a public LA Unified school, as a model for this type of student experience. Their mission is focused on building a more inclusive pipeline of historically underrepresented, college and career ready students interested in the film and television industries. It is funded through both public and private funding, with the Creative Artist Agency being one of the founding partners with LAUSD.
