If you’ve seen Austin’s iconic “HI, HOW ARE YOU” frog mural, you’ve encountered the work of beloved Texas artist and musician Daniel Johnston. With a cult following that includes fans like Eddie Vedder, Beck, Tom Waits, and David Bowie, newer generations are continuing to discover Johnston's extensive body of work, from his lo-fi basement tape recordings to his brilliant drawings that have graced the walls of galleries and museums.
With the exclusive SXSW debut of the new photo book IS ALWAYS, attendees have the rare chance to hear stories and chat with Johnston's long-time friends famed photographer Jung Kim and Louis Black, co-founder of The Austin Chronicle and SXSW. Book signing to follow.
