Accessibility in Film as a Tool for Advocacy

Recording: Accessibility in Film as a Tool for Advocacy, Date TBA

Breaking Silence is screening as part of the Texas Shorts Competition in the SXSW Film & TV Festival: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2023/films/2079037

Films that center D/deaf and disabled people create opportunity and lasting cultural change in the film industry and beyond. These narratives can raise awareness and create space for dialogue about ways to create a more inclusive society. The team from BREAKING SILENCE (SXSW Texas Shorts Selection) discusses the process of making the film and the film’s urgent themes of criminal justice, deaf advocacy and accessibility within the prison system, and the impacts of incarceration and reentry on families.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
