On Ukraine’s Cultural Frontlines

According to UNESCO, over 230 sites of cultural significance have been damaged since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Additionally, intangible cultural heritage has suffered setbacks with the mass exodus of performing artists seeking refuge from the war. However, initiatives have already begun to protect and restore Ukraine’s unique cultural heritage and art continues to be created in the face of destruction.
You Destroy. We Create is an immersive documentary that highlights these cultural and artistic responses in the wake of invasion. The panel is a deep dive into the making of the innovative piece of journalism co-created by an independent film studio, a tech company, an international NGO and the project’s protagonists.
