Texas is a microcosm of the political tensions across the U.S. From the fraught arguments at school board meetings to the problems around gun violence in schools. From the question of immigration to that of abortion. We have it all. Our politicians boast about our booming economy. Texas is the world's 9th largest economy. Texas has a $33 billion budget surplus. But in a state with robust economic health - Why are some Texans left out of the abundance? Why are many Texans going hungry? We will explore the history of hunger in Texas and why this is a persistent problem. We seek to understand the invisible machinery that perpetuates the struggle. We will conclude with actionable steps that the audience can take with them to address hunger, food insecurity and inequity in their communities.
