Designing Equity Through an Afrofuturist Lens
Afrofuturism is an artistic and philosophical movement that combines elements of science fiction, African history, and technology to imagine innovative futures. It leverages speculative design to harmonize the experiences of Black people in the past, present, and future.
This interactive session will feature a panel of designers, artists, time travelers, and futurists working to create a more just, equitable, and beautiful society. Attendees and panelists will leave with a participatory design framework to apply Afrofuturism to their work and lives.
Creating a space for Black voices allows for exploring new ideas and solutions to reduce inequality. In addition, it provides a platform for people to organize and take collective action to realize a more equitable future.
