The Bad Ends
The Bad Ends released their debut album, The Power and the Glory, 01/23 via New West Records. The 9-song set was produced by Mike Albanese of Maserati & The Bad Ends in the band’s hometown of Athens, GA, (the home base of B-52’s, R.E.M, Pylon, The Elephant Six Recording Company, and more). The Bad Ends feature Mike Mantione of 90s Athens favorites Five Eight on vocals & guitar, Dave Domizi on bass & vocals, Geoff Melkonian of the Josh Joplin Group on keyboards & vocals, Christian Lopez on guitars & mandolin, and in his first full-time band since leaving R.E.M. in 1997, the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bill Berry on drums. The debut album was recorded, produced, mastered, and manufactured entirely in Athens, GA & also features appearances from Sean Dunn of Five Eight and John Neff of Drive-By Truckers. Met with wide critical acclaim, MOJO awarded the album 3 out 4 Stars, calling The Power and the Glory “Turbo-charged rock for sweaty dives,” Uncut said in their 9/10 rated review, “The Bad Ends qualify as an Athens supergroup, and not just because they include two local legends,” & Brooklyn Vegan named it one of the most anticipated albums of 2023.
