Chris Gee

Co-Founder
Shanzhai City // Ixo.world

Chris works at the intersection of social development, development finance, and technology to help build financial inclusivity and data-literacy solutions in the “Global South”.

Most recently, Chris has been working with the ixo protocol (the “Internet of Impact” designed for identifying, verifying, and valuing impact) in conjunction with the Interchain Earth Program, to help build and test Regenerative Finance (ReFi) solutions that actually work for users in marginalized, vulnerable, and developing communities across Asia. As co-founder of Shanzhai City, a social development technology incubator based in Hong Kong, he has worked directly with communities to co-create digital tools for the deployment of development finance innovation such as Time Banks and Social Service Vouchers in Hong Kong, Micro Social Impact Bonds (mSIB) and Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA) programs in Myanmar, as well as Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) Civic Data Infrastructure for the governments of Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and Brazil.

Never one to sit still, Chris has had a helping hand in the creation of several nonprofit organizations including ubiquity.foundation that focuses on transitioning CVA programs towards Universal Basic Income through ethnographic research technology pilots in Myanmar, and idcc.hk that pushes data-driven initiatives through Hong Kong’s social innovation ecosystem.
