Alex Dominguez
Alex Dominguez serves in the Texas House of Representatives, representing his home community of Cameron County for the last four years. He is the author of HB 1802, a landmark psychedelic therapy bill, and has been recognized for his work as a veterans advocate and disability champion. Before being elected to the Texas House, Alex served as a Cameron County Commissioner for four years and was a public school teacher and prosecutor before that. Alex is a thoughtful and innovative legislator, seeking out difficult challenges and finding novel, bipartisan solutions to better serve Texans.
Alex’s effectiveness and leadership was recognized when he was made Vice Chair of the House Committee on Local & Consent Calendars and Vice Chair of the House Committee on Environmental Regulation. He is the only member from South Texas serving on the House Appropriations Committee. He also serves on the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas Advisory Committee and the Texas Infrastructure Resiliency Fund Advisory Committee.
Throughout his time in office, Alex has maintained his own law practice and served on numerous boards and councils in the Rio Grande Valley, including the Brownsville Economic Development Council, CASA of Cameron and Willacy Counties, and Los Diez Education Foundation, which raises scholarship funds for first generation college students. Alex is a graduate of Rice University and the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. He and his wife Jill reside in Brownsville where they are raising their son Tobias.
