Alan Ransil

Alan leads the Filecoin Green team, which aims at decarbonizing the Filecoin blockchain and building tools to allow other projects to become verifiably environmentally sustainable. He has worked to accelerate the transition to renewable energy for more than a decade, approaching this work as an academic and industry researcher, startup co-founder, and political volunteer, most recently working on distributed electric grids. His doctoral research focused on engineering structural batteries able to extend vehicle range. He received a PhD from MIT in 2018 and a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford in 2010.
