Chapman is a basketball legend at the University of Kentucky where he was named to the All-SEC Team both of his college years and the All-American Team before opting to enter the NBA draft. He was the first player ever drafted by the Charlotte Hornets and also played for the Washington Bullets, Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns in his 12-season NBA career, during which he scored just under 10,000 points.
After his retirement from the NBA, Chapman served as a color commentator on TNT during the NBA playoffs and as a basketball broadcaster for several teams. He has amassed over one million followers on Twitter where he is known for sharing hopeful and humorous content. He has mobilized his followers to raise nearly $500,000 in a matter of months to support those experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the destructive tornado in Western Kentucky.
